3 Reasons to Protect Your Crawl Space

Vented crawl spaces with dirt floors seem to be the standard across America. We highly recommend encapsulating your crawl space to better protect it.

Here are three reasons to protect your crawl space with an encapsulation.

1. MOLD

A crawl space with a dirt floor and vents allow for a lot of moisture to get in. When moisture is left to sit in the crawl space it usually leads to mold. Mold is very damaging to your home and your health. If their is mold in the crawl space it leads to mold spores and a musty smell being very prevalent in your home.

2. Structural Damage

An unprotected crawl space is much more prone to structural damage. Water can cause rot to settle in. Rotting beams and floor joists negatively affect the floors in your home and the structural integrity of your home as whole.

3.  High Energy Bills

When outside air is getting into your crawl space your energy bills go up. If your crawl space is vented, the weather outside becomes the weather inside your crawl space. This causes the air to kick on much more often, and it has to work much harder to keep your home cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
